Paintless Dent Repair

PDR Technique

The so-called PDR technique (Paintless Dent Repair) is the less aggressive way to erase dents from vehicle sheet metal, as it doesn’t involve using sandpaper, fillers or paints that reduce the value of the vehicle. Instead, the repair process is carried out with tools that won’t adversely affect it.

Done 100% by hand, the technique allows us to restore any vehicle to its original state and reduce time and costs.

Which tools are used for the PDR technique?

Levers are designed to gain access to the dents and to push them from below, making them disappear.

Hot-melt adhesives are perfect for working from the outside, when the characteristics of the panel and the damage make the use of levers inadvisable or impossible.

Magnetic induction is the ideal solution for metal sheets weakened by severe impacts. The panel regains its original rigidity through a controlled manipulation of the temperature on the damaged area.

What are the advantages of Paintless Dent Repair?

Fast repairs: less than 24 hours.

The use of body filler is not necessary.

Reduced costs.

Eco-friendly.

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) improves Customer Satisfaction: cars return to their original state in a few hours.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Paintless Dent Repair or Paintless Dent Removal Technique (PDR) is a set of non-invasive craft techniques, part of the so-known SMART Repairs (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology) which are used to remove dents from vehicle surfaces caused by impact or pressure.

Using a variety of repair techniques, our PDR technicians, known as a “levabolli” in Italian and “varillero” in Spanish, restore the sheet metal to its original condition without affecting the value of the vehicle.

This technique is mainly used in case of damages caused by climatic events (car hail damages).

Currently, there are 3 types of PDR technics, which make use of 3 different tools: levers or rods, suction cups (or hot melt adhesives) and electromagnetic induction.

Depending on the size and location of the dent, one technique or another is applied.

To remove dents from a vehicle, our PDR technicians have several tools at their disposal:

  1. Levers/Rods of different lengths and finishes that allow the technician to apply gentle pressure inside the dent, from the bottom up, to remove it.
  2. In the case of hot melt adhesives, it is a pressure by lifting: the levers are replaced by suction cups and a special “hammer” (Mini Lifter).
  3. Electromagnetic induction: a specific tool is applied to the top of the damage, which heats the area and makes the molecular structure return to its origin, making the dent disappear.

The cost depends on the time it takes to remove dents without painting, but it is significantly less (up to 30%) than the time it takes for a traditional repair.

If we add the cost of the paint (which in case of PDR techniques is not necessary), results in 30-40% savings over a traditional repair.
